Eating Disorders w/ Katie and LMFT Christina Zandi – CHSBT – 039

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Many of us are familiar with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating, but sometimes it’s difficult to recognize (let alone help) students, friends, and family members with these disorders. Maybe we struggle with recognizing it in ourselves. Chris had a chance to sit down with Katie Seals and LMFT Christina Zandi to glean professional and personal wisdom on how to recognize, support, and love people who struggle with disordered eating. They also explore the connections between eating disorders and body image. Through Katie’s story and Christina’s clinical expertise, they provide helpful perspective and advice that everyone should hear.

Christian Students’ Real Thoughts – CHSBT – 034

We had an epiphany! Maybe instead of Chris and Wayne talking about what students think, we should have a podcast that highlights what students think. In this episode, we talk about some Christian school highs and lows with 4 seniors: Pierce, Makenna, David, and Erika. These students insightfully walk us through topics like apologetics, desensitization to God, authenticity, hypocrisy, and gossip.

Baccalaureate Speech 2017 – Chris

Below is the full text of Chris’ Baccalaureate Speech. (Once Wayne gets back from Guatemala, we hope to post his as well)

 

In some form or another, you have probably heard someone tell you to follow your dreams. If you count all of the times such a message has been subliminally or explicitly directed at you in film, television, social media, literature, or a motivational speech in one of your classes here at our school, I’m sure that it would total roughly around 18,000 times.

“Follow your dreams.”

“You can do anything you put your mind to.”

“One of you may be the future President of the USA.”
